Prior Law Enforcement - Court Security Officer, Santa Fe, NM

Walden Security is currently offering a sign‑on bonus of $1,000 paid after 90 days on the contract. We are recruiting experienced Court Security Officers to provide armed security to courthouses under the USMS contract.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform entrance control: enforce entry and identification system; operate security screening equipment to detect weapons, contraband, prohibited items; check items such as handbags, briefcases, computers, packages, baby carriages, wheelchairs.
  • Perform roving patrols: patrol court facilities and grounds per post orders.
  • Perform stationary post assignments: stand guard at stationary posts, monitor CCTV, duress alarm systems, courtrooms, judge chambers, jury rooms.
  • Perform escort duties: provide armed escort for judges, court personnel, jurors, and other designated individuals.
  • Perform garage parking and pedestrian control: direct traffic and control lights on court facility properties per post orders or SOPs.
  • Enforce law and order: enforce federal law; detain unauthorized persons, prevent acts that imperil safety and security of employees, property, and public.
  • Prepare reports and records: report labor hours, accidents, fire, bomb threats, unusual incidents, unlawful acts within court facility.
  • Court attendance: secure unattended courtrooms; inspect before proceeding; test security devices.
  • Preserve order: maintain security presence; enforce federal law and judicial orders; enforce local court rules; protect proceedings as necessary.
Requirements
  • Education:

    High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience:

    At least 3 calendar years as a certified law enforcement officer or equivalent, all within last 7 years, with general arrest authority.
  • Language skills:
    Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; interpret and apply rules, regulations, directives.
  • Certificates:
    Valid driver’s license and safe driving record for 5 years; DOJ clearance; certification from federal, state, county, local, or military law enforcement training academy.
  • Other:
    Minimum age 21; pass pre‑employment drug screen and background check.
  • Physical demands:
    Meet medical standards of United States Marshal Service; reasonable accommodations available.
