Position Title: Physical Security Specialist

Reports To: Fraud & Security Manager

Supervises: N/A

Job Status: Non-Exempt

Job Grade: 10: $24.03 to $30.04 Targeted Hourly Rate

Job Summary

The Physical Security Specialist is responsible for supporting and maintaining State ECU's physical security operations and branch security programs. This role coordinates physical security systems, security incidents, surveillance activities, access controls, vendor relationships, and emergency response efforts to help safeguard employees, Members, facilities, and Credit Union assets.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • 1. Physical Security Operations
    • Monitor and support physical security systems including alarms, surveillance systems, and access controls.
    • Retrieve, review, and maintain security footage and related evidence.
    • Coordinate branch security incidents and emergency response activities.
    • Respond to after-hours alarms, incidents, and security events as needed.
    • Assist with robbery response coordination and documentation.
  • 2. Security Program Support
    • Coordinate with security vendors, contractors, and service providers.
    • Conduct branch security reviews and identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Support maintenance of emergency response procedures and security standards.
    • Assist with physical security projects and roadmap initiatives.
    • Maintain security documentation, logs, and incident records.
  • 3. Collaboration & Support
    • Work closely with branches, facilities, Operations, IT, and management.
    • Support investigations involving physical security incidents.
    • Assist with staff security awareness training and guidance.
    • Coordinate with law enforcement and emergency responders as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Must Have
    • Advanced knowledge of physical security operations, including alarm systems, surveillance systems, access control systems, and security procedures.
    • Advanced ability to respond to and coordinate security incidents, emergencies, after-hours alarms, and branch support activities in a calm and professional manner.
    • Intermediate organizational and documentation skills, including the ability to maintain accurate security records, incident reports, evidence logs, and investigative documentation.
    • Intermediate verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees, Members, vendors, law enforcement, and emergency responders.
    • Intermediate ability to coordinate with security vendors, contractors, and third-party service providers to support ongoing security operations and maintenance activities.
    • Intermediate problem-solving and critical thinking skills, including the ability to identify security concerns, evaluate risks, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
    • Intermediate ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively in time‑sensitive or high‑pressure situations.
    • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office and security‑related technology platforms and systems.
    • Demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality when handling sensitive security information, footage, investigations, and incidents.
  • Nice to Have
    • Intermediate knowledge of financial institution security operations, branch security standards, and robbery response procedures.
    • Intermediate experience working with surveillance systems, video retrieval systems, alarm monitoring platforms, and access control technologies.
    • Basic investigative support knowledge, including evidence preservation, documentation gathering, and coordination with internal investigations or law enforcement.
    • Intermediate understanding of emergency response procedures, incident escalation processes, and business continuity concepts.
    • Basic experience conducting security reviews, branch walkthroughs, or physical security risk assessments.
    • Intermediate understanding of fraud prevention and operational security concepts within a financial institution environment.
    • Basic knowledge of Financial Crimes operations and coordination with fraud investigations or BSA/AML teams.
    • Intermediate ability to provide guidance and security awareness support to branches and operational departments.
