The Department oversees a broad range of New Mexico's arts and cultural heritage agencies. These include 15 divisions representing a variety of programs and services.

The New Mexico Museum of Art fosters a deeper understanding and enjoyment of art throughout the state and beyond. We work with art and artists to explore the human experience, new ideas, and diverse cultures. We are one museum with two locations: the historic New Mexico Museum of Art on the Plaza and Vladem Contemporary in the Santa Fe Railyard.

The New Mexico Museum of Art is a division of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs. The Museum of Art is one of four state museums in Santa Fe, eight historic sites statewide, and the Office of Archaeological Studies that comprise the Museum of New Mexico system.
