Overview
The Aircraft Mechanic I (UH‑60) performs maintenance on helicopters, excluding repair of systems according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals, and safety procedures. The role includes removing and installing aircraft subsystem assemblies such as engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions, mechanical flight controls, and their components. Responsibilities also cover servicing and lubricating aircraft and subsystems, preparing aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks, performing scheduled inspections, assisting with special inspections, conducting limited operational checks, diagnosing and troubleshooting aircraft subsystems, operating special tools and equipment, performing operator maintenance on tools and ground support equipment, and preparing relevant forms and maintenance records.
Responsibilities- Remove and install aircraft subsystem assemblies such as engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components.
- Service and lubricate aircraft and subsystems.
- Prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks.
- Perform scheduled inspections and assist in performing special inspections.
- Perform limited maintenance operational checks and assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting aircraft subsystems using special tools and equipment.
- Use and perform operator maintenance on tools, special tools and aircraft ground support equipment.
- Prepare forms and records related to aircraft maintenance.
- Remove and disassemble defective parts of the aircraft.
- Maintain supplies and perform preventive maintenance.
- Perform additional maintenance duties as requested.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired; certification of education level is required.
- A valid, up‑to‑date A&P license (optional).
- Three years aviation maintenance experience, including two years rotary‑wing aircraft experience and two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS) UH‑60; all experience within the six most recent years.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must provide own tools/toolbox; recruiters will provide toolbox requirements to candidates upon selection and minimum tool list and compliance of toolbox must be completed prior to start date.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance (U.S. Government clearance).
- U.S. citizenship is required for obtaining secret clearance and for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems on the assigned MDS.
- Basic knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, hydraulic press machine, and those listed in the assigned MDS Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC).
- Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.
- Ability to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
- Experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by aircraft mechanic.
- Accepts technical guidance from supervisor or higher‑level technician; may lead teams through more complex aircraft tasks; may make entries in aircraft logs and records.
- Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods, climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
- Must crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee, and reach above/below shoulders.
- May need to lift, push, pull heavy objects exceeding 50 pounds.
- Must type using a standard keyboard to communicate via e‑mail and various software applications.
- Will handle dirty parts and lubricants; required PPE and must pass respirator fit test.
- May operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc.
- May work in a shop that is drafty, noisy, dirty; may be exposed to extreme noise, electrical shock hazards, moving mechanical parts or vehicles, austere environments, and all‑weather conditions.
Hourly wage: $38.98. Posting date: 05/29/2026. Position remains open until filled.
