Information Technology Application Developer (DPS #)
The New Mexico Department of Public Safety (DPS) seeks an experienced application developer skilled in .Net Core and Angular, with experience integrating Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases, creating APIs and stored procedures, and working in a complex network environment that supports 24/7 criminal justice systems.
Responsibilities- Analyze, design, develop, and maintain full‑stack applications, including backend logic, database scripts, and UI components.
- Participate in the full software development life cycle: requirements gathering, design, coding, unit testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Ensure application security, performance, and compliance with CJIS standards.
- Develop and maintain MS SQL Server databases, queries, and stored procedures; integrate SOAP/REST web services when needed.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, business analysts, project managers, and vendors in Agile or JAD design workshops.
- Document technical specifications, test plans, and user guides; assist QA with regression testing.
- Mentor junior developers and enforce coding standards.
- Participate in risk management, disaster recovery planning, and continuity efforts.
- Provide data reports and presentations to support operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of software programming experience, or six (6) years of combined education and experience.
- Proficiency in C#, .Net Core, Angular, and full‑stack development.
- Experience with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server, including stored procedures and database design.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑moving, mission‑critical environment.
Background investigation with fingerprinting, documentation of a valid driver’s license, and a current Defensive Driving Certificate from the State of New Mexico (or eligibility to obtain one within six months of hire).
Working ConditionsOn‑site work required in an office environment with extended computer usage; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs and travel may be required.
