-Must have a Bachelors degree or be currently enrolled in a Bachelors program and be eligible to apply for a Emergency 30 Day Substitute Teaching Permit or a Substitute Teaching Permit for Prospective Teachers (If applicant does not already hold a permit or credential). Please visit for permit information.
-If you hold a 30 day Emergency Substitute Teaching Permit or credential, please attach it to the application.

CERTIFICATED SALARY SCHEDULE
General Education
A. Day to Day Rate: $90 (half day), $180 (Full Day)
B. Long Term Rate: $215(full day)
* Special Education
A. Day to Day Rate: $100 (half day), $190 (full day)
B. Long Term Rate: $225*
* Daily Rate: 1-10 days and/or non-consecutive days
* Long Term Rate: 11+ Consecutive days in the same class/assignment
** Long Term Special Ed. Rate:
Applicable Special Education Credential required for assignments lasting more than 10 days in the same class/assignment
SMBSD CERTIFICATED SUBSTITUTE INCENTIVE PROGRAM
Certificated Substitutes will receive the following service stipend for cumulative number of days served substituting for SMBSD:
$750 service stipend triggered at 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 120, 140 and 160 days*
A total of $6,000 in service stipend are available over the course of the 24-25 school year.
-Payments will be provided as an "Add-On" after days of service noted. This pay may be distributed a month or two after your 20th day is worked-
* Please note 2 half days equals one full day of credit. One half day will not be considered a full day credit*

The substitute calling service (Frontline:
Absence Management) is managed through Santa Maria-Bonita School District. Substitutes receive jobs by way of an automated/online system (Frontline).
In addition if you are hired as a substitute teacher you will need to have a fingerprint clearance on file with the Santa Barbara County Education Office.
By completing a Multi-District Live Scan process your fingerprint information will be applicable with all school districts in Santa Barbara County.
