Position Summary
Allan Hancock College is a California public community college located in northern Santa Barbara County. This is a full-time, 175-day (10-month annual contract) tenure-track faculty position in the Health Sciences Department. The anticipated start date is Fall 2026.
The instructor will provide instruction in a variety of registered nursing classes and responsibilities for skills laboratory, clinical practicum, and support instruction, and supervision on campus and extended campus laboratories; evaluate and counsel nursing students; plan and organize instructional materials toward course objectives; review and revise course content; participate in program review; maintain five (5) required office hours for student consultation;
participate fully in department responsibilities and in the governance of the college through committee assignments; maintain class and examination schedules, as well as grade and attendance records, according to college regulations; and perform related tasks as required. The assignment may include teaching at off-campus centers and/or evening and weekend classes.
Essential Functions and Qualifications
- Work with and assist students having a great range of skills, motivation, and academic or vocational goals
- Develop and use resource materials and incorporate current computer technology
Use multi-media technology in classroom instruction - Plan, organize, and present lecture and lesson materials and concepts and to assess student achievement
- Design, review, and evaluate curriculum and make recommendations to maintain program currency for both vocational and transfer students
- Communicate effectively in both oral and written communication
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others
- Be sensitive and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and community college students and to staff and students with disabilities.
Master's degree in nursing, health education, or health science OR the equivalent OR the minimum qualifications as set by the California Board of Registered Nursing, whichever is higher; hold a current license as a registered nurse in California.
Not less than two years of recent clinical experience in medical/surgical, and/or mental health nursing (within the last three years), and experience teaching nursing courses in a diploma, associate degree, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program or as an in-service educator with a health care facility.

The hiring salary range is $66,760 to $97,816 dependent upon education and experience.
