SUMMARY

As a key member of the Leadership, the EVP Chief Financial Officer (CFO) reports directly to the President/CEO and assumes a strategic role in the overall management of the Credit Union. Responsible for executing comprehensive financial strategies that incorporate sound Asset/Liability Management practices while setting and meeting both short and long term financial strategies. Oversees financial forecasting and reporting, all accounting functions, and budgeting, and is the primary management contact for all financial related audits.

Plans, directs, and controls the Credit Union’s overall financial plans, policies, and accounting practices. Strategically leads all aspects of finance and accounting for the Credit Union.

Serves as key member of Leadership and supports the strategic priorities of the Credit Union.

Chairs the Asset Liability Committee (ALCO) and Investment Committee.

Assesses and evaluates the financial performance of the Credit Union.

Collaborates with executive management and others in an informed process to guide long-term operational goals, budgets, and forecasts. Provides insight and recommendations to both short-term and long-term growth plans.

Develops strategic financial plans that optimize risk-based earnings potential as part of financial and strategic plans.

Interprets financial information and market/economic conditions and makes judgments regarding likely impact on Credit Union operations, risk tolerance, and financial results.

Creates and establishes yearly financial objectives that align with Credit Union’s strategic plans and objectives.

Leads continuous improvement in the annual budget preparation and administration process to control operating expenses and achieve the Credit Union’s strategic objectives.

Oversees preparation of tax returns and government reporting, including the Call Report.

Provides leadership, analysis and reporting that leads to effective expense controls throughout the Credit Union.

Monitors interest rate, credit, and portfolio risk status and sets limitations as required for asset/liability management. Identifies ways to reduce interest rate risk and sensitivity. Provides detailed ALCO and Investment reports to Board and Leadership. Updates the ALM policy in accordance with NCUA rules and regulations.

Engages internal and external subject matter experts to continuously improve the sophistication of systems, processes and reporting commensurate with the complexity and size of the Credit Union.

Represents the Credit Union on financial matters with industry, governmental, and regulatory agencies, and responds and reacts timely and proactively to fix or mitigate regulatory examination and audit findings.

Participates in and executes on pivotal decisions as relates to strategic initiatives and operational and financial models.

Prepares and presents monthly financial reports including budget-to-actual and period-over-period results..

Identifies, develops, and executes analyses of business initiatives, product launches, and/or new service offerings.

Ensures the proper functioning of all accounting systems, databases, and financial software. Proficient use of accounting systems, databases and financial software. Collaborates with IT on updates, functionality and performance of systems as needed.

Performs or engages experts to perform interest rate risk analysis and reports results to the Asset Liability Committee.
