The OpportunityThe company is seeking an Accounting & Finance Consultant to partner directly with the Head of Finance & Accounting and President/COO during a period of rapid growth and finance transformation.
This consultant will provide hands‑on accounting support while helping strengthen financial reporting, improve processes, optimize recently implemented ERP systems, and build scalable accounting infrastructure.
The ideal candidate enjoys rolling up their sleeves, solving problems, improving processes, and operating in a fast‑paced entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities- Immediately support day‑to‑day corporate accounting operations alongside finance leadership.
- Assist with the stabilization and optimization of a recently implemented Net Suite ERP environment.
- Reconstruct, organize, and document historical trial balance detail inherited from an outsourced accounting provider.
- Improve the quality and transparency of accounting records to support management reporting and executive decision‑making.
- Build detailed gross margin reporting by SKU across an expanding product portfolio.
- Prepare and improve GAAP‑compliant financial reporting.
- Analyze margins, deductions, chargebacks, and profitability across multiple sales channels, including DTC, Amazon, and wholesale.
- Reconcile and audit transactional data flowing from Shopify into Net Suite to ensure data integrity.
- Design and implement stronger internal controls, month‑end close procedures, reconciliation processes, and accounting documentation.
- Partner with outsourced accounting resources to improve accounting workflows and operational consistency.
- Provide analytical support related to inventory management, cash flow forecasting, and operational finance initiatives.
- Assist with ad hoc projects supporting continued growth and operational scalability.
- Strong corporate accounting experience within a high‑growth consumer products, retail, eCommerce, or manufacturing environment.
- Experience producing GAAP‑compliant financial statements.
- Hands‑on experience with month‑end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to improve accounting processes and implement internal controls.
- Comfortable working in lean organizations where flexibility and ownership are essential.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work at both detailed transactional and high‑level financial reporting levels.
- Experience working with outsourced accounting teams is highly preferred.
- Inventory and cost accounting experience is a plus.
- Experience analyzing product‑level profitability or gross margins is highly desirable.
