Saint Monica Preparatory is a coeducational, Catholic TK–12th grade school in the heart of Santa Monica, CA. Saint Monica Preparatory is seeking dependable, caring, and flexible substitute teachers and substitute support staff to join our TK–12 school wide substitute pool. Substitute opportunities may be available across the Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School depending on campus needs. This is a part-time, as-needed position.

Substitutes help support the daily life of the school when a teacher or staff member is absent. Depending on the assignment, substitutes may supervise classrooms, follow teacher-provided plans, assist with student routines, monitor student work, or help with general campus supervision.

The ideal candidate is reliable, flexible, professional, and comfortable working with students in a TK–12 Catholic school setting.

• Supervise students in classrooms or other campus spaces at all assigned times.
• Take attendance and submit to the Front Office
• Follow lesson plans, schedules, and directions provided by teachers or school staff.
• Support a positive, respectful, and safe learning environment.
• Help students stay on task during class or study periods.
• Communicate any important notes or concerns to the teacher, office staff, or administrator.

• Associate or a Bachelors Degree
• Experience working with children or youth
• Dependable, professional, and comfortable supervising students.
• Successful completion of Archdiocese of Los Angeles fingerprinting, VIRTUS training, and background check before working with students.

Current substitute pay rates are based on the length and type of assignment:

• $100 for half-day assignments, defined as 4 hours or less
• $160 for full-day assignments, defined as more than 4 hours
• For occasional individual class-period coverage, the rate may be $25 per period, when applicable.

Only complete applications will be considered. All substitute candidates must complete required Archdiocese of Los Angeles fingerprinting and VIRTUS training before beginning any assignment.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
