Overview
Westside Build is a Santa Monica-based home builder that specializes in helping homeowners rebuild high-quality, resilient homes after disasters such as fires, guiding clients from initial concept through to move-in. Our process starts with a deep discovery phase to understand clients' needs and preferences, followed by custom design, permitting, construction, and a final hand-over of the finished home.
RoleThe BIM Coordinator serves as the connective tissue between design, preconstruction, and construction teams, ensuring models are accurate, coordinated, and constructible.
We run projects like a modern production system:
- Digital twins + prefab thinking + field-first execution + automation everywhere
You are the person who makes BIM stop being a department and start being the operating system.
If you ve ever thought:
- "Why are we still doing this manually?"
- "Why isn t the model driving the work?"
- "Why is BIM treated like paperwork instead of leverage?"
BIM Coordination & Model Management
- You will have Ownership over BIM standards, workflows, and tooling across the company
- Coordinate BIM models across architecture, structural, and MEP disciplines
- Maintain model accuracy, version control, and adherence to BIM standards
- Perform clash detection and lead coordination reviews using federated models
- Ensure models reflect design intent, constructability, and field conditions
Standards, Processes & Quality
- Enforce BIM execution plans (BEPs), naming conventions, and modeling standards
- Support continuous improvement of BIM workflows and coordination processes
- Assist with implementation of new BIM tools, templates, and best practices
Construction & Field Support
- Support field teams with model-based drawings, details, and visualizations
- Coordinate model updates based on RFIs, submittals, and field changes
Core Ownership
- BIM That Builds:
You aren t just making pretty pictures. You are coordinating models for field logic—sequencing, tolerances, and the reality of installation - Computational Thinking (Dynamo):
This is a Non-negotiable. You use Dynamo and development skills to automate manual tasks, drive efficiency, and ensure we aren t doing the same thing twice
- Impact:
We aren t just building houses; we are rebuilding lives - Innovation:
We are small enough to be nimble but ambitious enough to redefine how homes are built - Culture: A high-performance, low-ego team that values speed, precision, and automation
Qualifications
- Technical Mastery:
Expert-level proficiency in Revit and Navisworks - The Automation Edge:
Strong experience with Dynamo (or similar computational tools) to streamline workflows - Field-First Mindset:
You understand how buildings actually go together. You can look at a model and see the construction sequence, not just the geometry - Systemic Thinker:
You don t just solve one clash; you solve the process that allowed the clash to happen - Experience:
3+ years in BIM coordination, preferably within a design-build or high-end residential environment - Proficient in Revit, Navisworks, Dynamo, BIM 360 / ACC, Bluebeam and Procore
- Grasshopper and coding is a plus
- Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent construction/Architecture experience
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
- Paid time off
- Retirement savings plan
This role is Hybrid working onsite 4 days a week.
Salary range is $85, commensurate with experience
