About Milken Institute

The Milken Institute is a globally minded, publicly supported, non-partisan nonprofit think tank headquartered in Santa Monica, California. Established over three decades ago, the organization has developed into a leading research and policy institution with international offices in Washington, DC, New York, London, Abu Dhabi, and Singapore. The Institute operates as a catalyst for identifying and implementing practical, scalable solutions to pressing global challenges by strategically connecting human, financial, and educational resources to organizations and individuals who need them most.

The Milken Institute’s work is guided by the fundamental conviction that even the best ideas cannot succeed without adequate resources and support. The organization conducts rigorous research and analysis while convening leading experts, innovators, and influencers from diverse backgrounds and competing viewpoints. This collaborative approach enables the Institute to construct comprehensive programs and policy initiatives designed to create meaningful impact.

The Institute’s activities focus on helping people build meaningful lives characterized by health and well-being, access to effective education and gainful employment, and the resources necessary to create expanding opportunities for themselves and their broader communities. The Institute’s convening power is substantial, hosting more than 200 events annually. The organization’s flagship event, the Global Conference, attracts more than 4,500 participants from around the world and features more than 900 speakers delivering presentations across more than 200 sessions.

These events facilitate the exchange of ideas with global leaders and serve as platforms for advancing the Institute’s research and policy agenda. Pathways to Capital represents a portfolio of programs at the Milken Institute dedicated to transforming how capital reaches people and communities, enabling them to build, grow, and thrive. Recognizing that while talent is widely distributed, financial systems concentrate capital and opportunity in specific geographies and networks, Pathways to Capital works to identify high-potential people, places, and businesses that have historically been excluded from economic opportunity.

The three signature programs—10,000 Communities, Initiative for Inclusive Entrepreneurship, and Inclusive Capitalism—equip underserved populations with the resources, education, and networks necessary to harness capitalism and achieve economic advancement.
