We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable data architectures and pipelines for AstraZeneca’s Life Sciences initiatives. This is a hands-on onsite role requiring strong technical leadership, deep domain expertise in Cell and Gene Therapy, and the ability to mentor data engineers while actively contributing to architecture design, coding, and optimization. The role ensures delivery of high-quality, compliant data solutions aligned with business and regulatory standards.

• Hands-On Development
  • Develop clean, well-documented, and high-performance code using Python and/or Scala
  • Build data ingestion, transformation, and processing pipelines
• Data Architecture & Design
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines
  • Support analytics, business intelligence, and machine learning use cases
  • Design and maintain Conceptual, Logical, and Physical Data Models for the Nexus platform
  • Ensure seamless data flow across Clinical, Logistics, and Manufacturing systems
• Integration & Security
  • Architect the integration layer between Salesforce (Patient Journey) and shop-floor systems
  • Design secure API architectures using Mutual TLS (mTLS) and OAuth 2.0
  • Ensure secure, compliant system-to-system communication
• Business & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data needs and challenges
  • Translate business requirements into actionable technical solutions
• Quality, Governance & Compliance
  • Implement and enforce data governance, quality, and security standards
  • Ensure compliance with GxP processes and regulatory requirements

• Technical Skills
  • Strong expertise in SQL and Python
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Snowflake, AWS (S3, related services)
  • Data modeling, data pipeline architecture, and large-scale data systems
  • API design and integration experience
• Domain Expertise
  • Life Sciences domain (mandatory)
  • Cell and Gene Therapy experience (mandatory)
  • Strong understanding of GxP processes and compliance
• Soft Skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to mentor and guide data engineering teams

• 9+ years of relevant experience as a Data Architect or Senior Data Engineer
