Privacy & Cybersecurity Counsel

Snap Inc. is a technology company focused on camera-driven communication. Its core products include Snapchat, Lens Studio, and Spectacles.

Legal Counsel for Snap’s global privacy and cybersecurity programs. Works closely with Engineering Security, Privacy Engineering, Product Counsel, and cross-functional teams to support privacy‑by‑design practices.

• Partner with the Engineering Security team on vendor due diligence, privacy and security assessments, risk, and incident response.
• Collaborate on developing, improving, and enforcing data security policies, standards, and practices.
• Ensure compliance with global privacy laws (GDPR, U.S. state and federal consumer protection laws).
• Partner with Product Counsel on privacy, data security, and encryption issues for new products.
• Work with Privacy Engineering to improve privacy‑by‑design program.
• Analyze legal risks and regulatory requirements for new products and technologies.
• Conduct privacy due diligence, impact assessments, and integration plans for acquisitions and partnerships.
• Help draft public‑facing descriptions of new products and technologies.
• Track and analyze domestic and global privacy, data security, and consumer legislation; advise Policy team on policy engagement priorities.
• Conduct periodic privacy and security trainings across the company.

• Experience counseling Security teams, including incident response and investigations.
• Deep understanding of global cybersecurity laws, regulations and frameworks (e.g., EU NIS 2, EU Cyber Resilience Act, NIST frameworks).
• Deep understanding of domestic and global privacy laws, regulations and frameworks (GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, FTC Act, anti‑spam laws, cookies regulation).
• Knowledge of AI laws, regulations and frameworks.
• In‑house or law firm experience with privacy, cybersecurity and product/technology matters.
• Excellent legal and business judgment, strategic thinking.
• Strong communication, collaboration, problem‑solving skills.
• Detail‑oriented, practical, business‑minded, able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Strong work ethic, independent and collaborative, sense of humor.

• J.D. from a nationally recognized law school.
• Active membership in at least one state bar.
• 6+ years of experience practicing law.

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone determining the salary range. The starting pay is based on qualifications, experience, location, and market conditions.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC): $209,000–$313,000 annually.

Zone B: $199,000–$297,000 annually.

Zone C: $178,000–$266,000 annually. Position eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
