Our client, a global investment firm, is seeking a Data Management Analyst to join their team in Los Angeles, CA!
The Analyst will take ownership of maintaining and enhancing the integrity of the firm’s security master, conducting rigorous data quality validation, and advancing reporting and automation initiatives through SQL.
Responsibilities Security Master Maintenance- Maintain and update the security master database, ensuring accurate and current information across all fixed income securities.
- Monitor data completeness and consistency as new securities are onboarded or existing records are modified.
- Perform regular validation checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of data sourced from multiple internal and external systems.
- Investigate and resolve data discrepancies through detailed analysis, collaborating with relevant stakeholders to address root causes.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports covering security attributes, trading activity and data quality metrics.
- Contribute to automation initiatives designed to streamline data workflows, reduce manual processes, and improve operational efficiency.
- Build and maintain SQL queries for data extraction, aggregation, and reporting across the firm’s data infrastructure.
- Support the development of automated data solutions that enhance the accuracy and timeliness of reporting outputs.
- Assist in integrating data from internal and external sources into the security master and other core databases, ensuring data flows are reliable and well-documented.
- Partner with the team to identify opportunities to improve data management workflows and implement best practices that scale with the firm’s growth.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data management, financial operations, or a related analytical role within a hedge fund, asset manager or financial services firm.
- Proficiency in SQL, including writing complex queries for data extraction, transformation, aggregation, and reporting.
- Demonstrated experience with financial instruments — particularly fixed income securities such as high yield bonds, leveraged loans or structured credit.
- Strong understanding of security master data concepts and data quality frameworks.
- Experience with data integration workflows and ETL processes across multiple internal and external data sources.
- Familiarity with investment management platforms and data vendors (e.g., Bloomberg, Fact Set, Markit).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, Power Query) and PowerPoint for reporting and stakeholder presentations.
- Experience developing or contributing to automation initiatives that reduce manual reporting processes and improve data workflow efficiency.
- Exceptional attention to detail and understands that data accuracy has direct downstream impact on investment decisions.
- Collaborative team player who builds strong relationships across investment, technology, operations and other teams and communicates complex data issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain precision under pressure.
- Proactive problem-solver who identifies data issues and process gaps before they scale and takes initiative in driving solutions.
- High degree of professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive financial data and proprietary firm information.
- Intellectual curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset to consistently look for more efficient ways to manage and present data.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, demanding environment with a high bar for quality and personal accountability.
