Retail Associate; Design, Objects & Tableware - Part Time

With locations in Santa Monica and ROW DTLA, we present collections that reflect craftsmanship, material integrity, and cultural storytelling. We work closely with independent studios, historic workshops, and emerging makers, and our stores function as quiet, gallery‑like environments where customers discover objects with lasting meaning.

We are seeking a thoughtful and detail‑oriented Part‑Time Retail Associate to join our Santa Monica store
, located on the beautiful corner of Montana Avenue
. This position is available as part‑time, with the opportunity to transition into a full‑time role based on performance and business needs.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with craftsmanship, materials, and design‑forward customers. You will play an important role in maintaining the visual and operational standards of the store while supporting a calm and welcoming customer experience.

• Welcome customers and introduce them to ARJ’s collections and featured makers
• Share stories behind materials, techniques, and studios represented in the store
• Maintain gallery‑style merchandising and visual presentation standards
• Process transactions accurately using Shopify POS
• Assist customers via phone and email inquiries
• Support receiving and organizing international shipments
• Monitor inventory accuracy and product organization across SKUs
• Contribute to exhibition changes and seasonal installations
• Assist with online order fulfillment when needed

• Strong interest in ceramics, objects, interiors, fashion, or material culture
• Comfortable working independently in a calm retail setting
• Strong attention to detail and product handling care
• Familiarity with iPad/Mac systems required
• Shopify experience is a plus
• Availability on weekends and holidays

• $22–$28 per hour, depending on experience
