Job Duties

Teach career technical education (CTE) combined lecture and laboratory course in analytical chemistry instrumentation (e.g.,HPLC, GC-MS, FTIR, UV-Vis) and other chemistry courses as assigned by departmental need, in full alignment with the approved Course Outline of Record.
Train students in data acquisition, spectral analysis,calibration curve generation, statistical data treatment, erroranalysis, and method selection for qualitative and quantitative analysis.
Integrate industry-relevant compliance practices into labworkflows, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and accurate laboratoryrecordkeeping.
Supervise student operation of analytical instrumentation and maintain strict adherence to laboratory safety protocols.
Enforce and model rigorous safety standards, including theproper use of fume hoods, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE),hazardous waste management, chemical hygiene plan, and the safe handling/disposal of flammable or toxic reagents.
Develop course syllabi with clear Student Learning Outcomes(SLOs).
Assess student learning through examinations, technical labreports, problem sets, and/or collaborative final projects; provide timely, constructive feedback to support student career readiness.
Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to support student learning and skill development.
Maintain accurate records of enrollment, attendance, and gradesvia the College's Learning Management System (LMS).
Attend industry advisory board meetings to ensure course content remains aligned with regional workforce needs.
Participate in Department and College "Flex Day" activities and professional development.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's in chemistry
OR
Bachelor's in chemistry or biochemistry AND Master's in biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical physics, physics,molecular biology or geochemistry OR the equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

MS or PhD in Analytical Chemistry or a closely related chemicalscience.

Experience as instructor of record (or extensive experience asa Graduate Teaching Assistant) for undergraduate analytical chemistry or instrumental analysis lecture and laboratory courses.

Alternatively, demonstrated experience as instructor of recordteaching lower-division chemistry in a community collegesetting.

Training or experience in evidence-based scientific teaching strategies, culturally responsive pedagogy, and equitable learningframeworks in STEM.

Hands-on proficiency in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting core analytical platforms, specifically HPLC,GC-MS, FTIR, and UV-Vis.

Familiarity with additional instrumentation and separationtechniques (e.g., NMR, LC-MS, IC) is desirable.

Direct industry experience in Quality Control (QC),Environmental Testing, Water Quality/Wastewater Analysis,Pharmaceuticals, or Chemical Manufacturing.

Practical familiarity working in a GLP/GMP environment,including experience with pharmacopeial standards (e.g., USP),validation methodologies, deviation reporting, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and/or data integrity frameworks (such asALCOA+).

Demonstrated knowledge of hazardous waste management and aproactive approach to preventing laboratory accidents.
