  • Develop clear solution options, such as repair versus replacement, present proposals, and secure approval for work with homeowners.
  • Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer specifications, code requirements, and company standards.
  • Conduct quality control checks, analyze callbacks, and perform root-cause reviews to minimize repeat visits.
  • Act as the primary technical resource for technicians, providing live troubleshooting support, managing escalations, and accompanying on ride-alongs.
  • Train and mentor technicians on diagnostics, brazing, charging, superheat/subcooling, combustion analysis, airflow verification, and proper documentation.
  • Lead daily and weekly huddles, assign workloads, and uphold safety and performance standards.
  • Communicate clearly with homeowners regarding findings, options, warranties, and maintenance plans.
  • Write accurate and detailed estimates/work orders, capture photos and notes, and ensure customer approvals.
  • Promote maintenance agreements and system upgrades when beneficial to the customer.
  • Maintain inventory standards on service vehicles and coordinate with the warehouse for parts forecasting.
  • Enforce OSHA and company safety policies and support permitting and code compliance as needed.
  • Monitor KPIs such as first-time fix rate, average response time, callback rate, revenue per ticket, and proposal close rate.
  • Collaborate with Install/Dispatch teams to ensure smooth handoffs, accurate scheduling, and minimal downtime.
Essential Skills
  • 10+ years of residential HVAC service experience, including advanced diagnostics and system repairs.
  • Proven experience in leading or mentoring technicians in the field.
  • Strong homeowner-facing communication and effective proposal/closing skills.
  • Proficiency with digital gauges, combustion analyzers, micron gauges, recovery/recycling procedures, and common service software like Service Titan or Housecall Pro.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Heat pump commissioning, inverter/communicating systems, and zoning controls expertise.
  • Familiarity with duct design and airflow balancing (Manual D / Manual J).

  • Strong documentation habits and adeptness with technology (mobile apps, digital forms).
