Job Summary

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is a global organization of engineers, product developers, designers, technologists, data scientists, and more – all working to build and advance the technological backbone for Disney’s media business globally.

The team marries technology with creativity to build world‑class products, enhance storytelling, and drive velocity, innovation, and scalability for our businesses. We are storytellers and innovators, creators and builders, entertainers and engineers.

The DEEP & Technology team is looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test to join our expanding quality engineering efforts across the Ads, Data, and eCommerce domains. As part of our mission to scale automation and enhance quality across diverse systems, this role will focus on building robust test automation frameworks and quality processes tailored to each team’s unique needs.

In Ads, you will help ensure that ad delivery systems serve relevant, timely, and high‑quality advertisements, maximizing viewer satisfaction and business revenue. For Data, you will ensure the integrity and performance of large‑scale pipelines that power analytics and insights across the organization. In eCommerce, you will help maintain seamless shopping experiences by catching integration and service‑level issues early in the development cycle.

As an SDET, you will be instrumental in strengthening test automation strategies, leading quality initiatives, and championing a culture of engineering excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Software Engineers to understand the complex ecosystem at DEEP & Technology.
  • Develop automated test frameworks and suites on UI, API, and integration levels using Python or other object‑oriented languages.
  • Participate in design discussions to evolve the platform for richer testing scenarios that simplify defect detection and prevention.
  • Assist with triage, diagnosis, and resolution of issues discovered across teams.
  • Contribute to end‑to‑end acceptance tests.
  • Develop and execute manual test cases where automation is not possible.
  • Drive the conversion of manual tests to automation whenever possible.
  • Build frameworks for robust, fault‑tolerant, cloud‑native architectures that scale to customers.
  • Lead and deliver multiple projects in an Agile methodology while reviewing team members’ code.
  • Own the design of software programs or systems, write code to enhance frameworks, review code for design, testability, and scalability, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of hands‑on software test development experience, including functional and non‑functional testing.
  • Knowledge of Agentic workflows and MCP design patterns.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python or Java, ETL processes, and familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud‑based data warehousing (e.g., Snowflake).
  • Skills in data validation, modeling, ETL pipelines and software engineering principles.
  • Strong desire to establish and improve product quality.
  • Experience building or improving test automation frameworks.
  • Experience in CI/CD integration and pipeline development with Jenkins, Spinnaker, or similar.
  • Experience in UI automation (Selenium, Robot, Watir).
  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent degree or work experience.
