The Ad Serving Engineering organization within Disney Entertainment and the ESPN organization builds, enhances, and maintains the high‑performance, distributed, microservice‑based Digital Advertising Platform. The platform qualifies, delivers, and tracks Digital Advertising campaigns (Video on Demand, Live TV, and innovative interactive ads) across all of Disney’s online properties, including Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+.
Ad Serving teams also develop supporting components such as anti‑ad fatigue systems, impression‑counting pipelines, and ad experience flows, and integrate with critical entitlement, pacing, targeting, and third‑party services. As part of the Decisioning Fleet, you will directly contribute to optimizing ad qualification and selection to ensure viewers always see the right ad at the right time and build tools that analyze competing ads for ad breaks across Hulu, Disney+, ESPN+, and other platforms.

- BS or MS in Computer Science / Engineering or relevant work experience
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- Proficiency with Java
- Experience with React
JS or similar frontend frameworks, with the ability to quickly pick up new technologies - Demonstrable analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent communication, collaboration skills, and a strong teamwork ethic with both technical and non‑technical audiences
- Experience with Spring Boot and related Spring projects
- Modern frontend development practices
- Non‑relational database technologies like DynamoDB
- Caching data stores such as Redis, Val Key, or Mem Cache
- Data streaming mechanisms such as Apache Kafka and/or Kinesis
- Cloud platforms such as AWS
- Modern Dev Ops tools such as Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with AI productivity tools and their application in software development
- Domain knowledge in Ad Tech
- Engineers are expected to be in the office four days a week.
- This role is hiring in San Francisco, Santa Monica, Glendale, or Seattle.
Hiring range within Los Angeles, California: $141,900 to $190,300 per year. Seattle, WA: $148,700 to $199,400 per year. San Francisco, CA: $155,400 to $208,400 per year. Base pay will also consider internal equity, geographic region, and individual experience.
Additional benefits may include a bonus or long‑term incentive units, medical, financial, and other benefits, depending on level and position.
