Role
Benchling ELN Engineer
Duration: 6 months (possibility of extension)
Location: Santa Monica, CA (hybrid)
Job OverviewThe client's Process Development Team is seeking a skilled Benchling ELN Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in implementing and configuring Benchling's Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) platform to support our testing and development activities. The candidate should have a strong background in software development and a deep understanding of scientific workflows in Process Development and Analytical Testing.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand business requirements and objectives for the ELN platform.
- Analyze current business processes and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement and automation through the use of ELN technology.
- Configure Benchling ELN to meet user and functional requirements.
- Develop custom workflows and integrations to enhance the functionality of the ELN platform.
- Develop dashboards and custom label reports leveraging Bartender.
- Perform development testing & troubleshooting.
- Draft technical documentation.
- Deliver technical build according to sprint sessions & assess work effort.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot any issues that arise, ensuring the smooth operation of the ELN platform.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a scientific related field.
- 2+ years of experience implementing and configuring Benchling ELN.
- Strong understanding of laboratory operations and scientific workflows.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java.
- Experience developing dashboards & custom reports leveraging Bartender.
- Experience with Zebra printers & barcoding technologies.
- Experience working in a scientific research environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to deliver on tight timelines.
- Solid understanding of development best practices including SDLC.
- Experience with computer system validation.
