Civil/Site Engineer About the Role
ECA is seeking a motivated Civil/Site Engineering-in-Training to join our growing team. This is a career‑building opportunity designed for an early‑career engineer on a clear path toward licensure, including preparation for and completion of the Professional Engineer (PE) exam. You will work alongside experienced engineers and project managers on meaningful, sustainable land development and stormwater projects throughout Florida.
Responsibilities- Support site design for residential, mixed‑use, commercial, institutional, and municipal projects
- Assist with grading, drainage, and stormwater management design in compliance with local agency standards
- Contribute to utility design using WaterCAD, SewerCAD, or similar software
- Prepare engineering plans, technical reports, and design calculations under senior engineer supervision
- Coordinate with permitting agencies, municipalities, and multidisciplinary project teams
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using tools such as ICPR, HEC‑RAS 2D, or Storm Wise
- Provide GIS mapping and design support using ArcGIS and Civil 3D
- Maintain organized project documentation and assist with client deliverables
- Participate in site visits and field observations as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field
- 0–3 years of experience in site design, land development, or stormwater engineering
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Foundational understanding of grading, utilities, stormwater design, and permitting processes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail‑oriented with solid organizational and time management abilities
- EIT (Engineer‑in‑Training) certification obtained or actively pursuing

Preferred Qualifications- Familiarity with Florida‑specific permitting agencies: NWFWMD, SFWMD, FDEP, or local municipalities
- Modeling experience with ICPR, HydroCAD, Storm Wise, or HEC‑RAS
- Exposure to ArcGIS or other GIS platforms
- Experience with utility design software (WaterCAD, SewerCAD)
- Genuine interest in sustainable design and resilient community development
- Structured mentorship from licensed PE engineers
