Director of Waterproofing & Restoration
We are seeking a Director of Waterproofing & Restoration to lead and grow a high-performing building envelope and restoration department within a well-established engineering firm on the Florida Gulf Coast.
This is a leadership-focused role responsible for technical oversight, team development, operational management, and department growth. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in structural engineering, building envelope systems, restoration, and Florida-specific inspection requirements.
Position OverviewThe Director will provide overall direction, coordination, execution, and quality control of Waterproofing & Restoration projects while ensuring alignment with company standards and industry best practices.
This role requires strong technical expertise combined with leadership, financial oversight, and business development capability.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and mentor a team of Waterproofing & Restoration engineers
- Provide technical oversight for complex restoration and envelope projects
- Develop and manage project budgets, proposals, and schedules
- Review billings and prepare change orders
- Forecast workload and allocate resources effectively
Conduct performance reviews and support staff development - Contribute to revenue forecasting and departmental financial planning
- Participate in business development and marketing initiatives
- Ensure compliance with Florida inspection and restoration requirements
- Oversee quality control of reports, design documents, and inspections
- Collaborate with executive leadership on department strategy and growth
- Reserve Studies & Structural Integrity Reserve Studies (SIRS)
- Milestone Inspections
- Building envelope evaluations & forensic investigations
- Waterproofing and restoration design
- Water intrusion testing & leak investigations
- Condominium & commercial property restoration
- Construction management services for restoration projects
- Develop and train a high-performing team
- Establish department standards and training materials
- Increase department revenue and profitability annually
- Strengthen client relationships and expand service offerings
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Extensive experience in structural engineering, building envelope, waterproofing, or restoration consulting
- Experience leading teams and managing project portfolios
- Strong understanding of Florida Building Code and SIRS/Milestone requirements preferred
- Proven ability to manage budgets, proposals, and department growth
- Client-facing and business development experience strongly preferred
