Job Summary The Facilities Technician is responsible for ensuring that the property is in excellent condition for guests and associates. Under the direction of the General Manager and Chief Engineer, the technician is responsible for maintaining all equipment, systems, and building components, including but not limited to mechanical and electrical systems, pumps, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, locks, furniture, paint, wall coverings, tile, and other equipment.
Additionally, depending on experience and role level, the technician may assist other facilities staff as needed.
Primary Responsibilities & Essential Functions Work independently while completing various maintenance tasks in guest rooms and hotel buildings including but not limited to minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, furniture assembly, etc. as needed
Troubleshooting and repairs of mid-level plumbing, HVAC, painting and sheet rock repair
Assist in troubleshooting issues that require a skilled maintenance repair or contractor repair
Carry out routine checks and maintenance work for the assigned areas
Conduct room care preventative maintenance as directed
Possess thorough knowledge of all equipment in your department
Update work order tickets and record in system according to company procedures
Communicate with departments and other relevant parties for work orders
Respond to work orders quickly and resolve timely
Maintaining the documentation of all daily logs, reading, and building inspection programs
Adhere to hotel work order system including prioritization
Achieve and maintaia quality guest room product according to hotel standards
Maintain strict compliance of hotel's Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) program, including maintaining current MSDSThorough knowledge of all emergency equipment, their location, and their function including but not limited to valves, electrical equipment, etc.
Demonstrate teamwork responsiveness when asked to do any task consistent with hotel standards
Directly assist the Facilities Technician I as needed
Monitor all services performed by outside contractors and vendors
Ensure safety and security throughout the hotel
Maintaining all exterior grounds, parking areas, and public access areas
All other duties as assigned
Education and Experience Sufficient education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels and to communicate with guests
Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in basic English preferred
Customer service experience is a must. All technicians must be able and willing to interact with guests
Mechanical or technical experience in building maintenance is heavily preferred
Knowledge of computers and ability to process work tickets
Prior building maintenance experience is needed
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Detail-oriented and thorough
Ability to perform consistent work to the highest of standards
Ability to remain discreet and respect the privacy of guests
Ability to interact with guests in a pleasant, friendly way Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Ability to effectively and efficiently lead a team
Must be able to multi-task with jobs, radio and guest interactions
Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions
Possess strong working knowledge of heating, cooling, and pumping systems
Possess strong plumbing knowledge
Must be very well versed in electrical applications and safety
Should have a working knowledge of appliances
General maintenance experience with general paint and carpentry
Physical Demands Frequent bending, standing, stopping, walking, kneeling, crouching, pushing, and pulling
Ability to lift 50 lbs Occasional climbing of ladders and stairs
Working Conditions Indoor and outdoor
Exposure to extreme heat and or cold depending on season
Exposure to power tools and potentially broken electrical equipment
Exposure to chemicals (with proper PPE)
