Payroll Manager

The Payroll Manager will oversee the organization's nationwide payroll function, with responsibility for delivering accurate, timely, and compliant pay for both hourly and salaried employees. This position manages the full payroll lifecycle, including timekeeping, employee data, deductions, garnishments, PTO and leave payments, payroll adjustments, final checks, reporting, reconciliations, and audit preparation. Serving as the go-to resource for payroll matters, the manager will lead the payroll team, assign and monitor workloads, strengthen processes and controls, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure sensitive employee information is handled appropriately.

The role also works cross-functionally with Human Resources, Benefits, Leave, Finance, Accounting, business leaders, and payroll/HRIS vendors to support accurate payroll administration, tax requirements, reporting, and system effectiveness.

Qualified candidates will bring a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience, along with five or more years of progressive payroll experience and at least two years in a supervisory or lead capacity. Experience managing payroll across multiple states, working with HRIS platforms, interpreting payroll tax and wage-and-hour requirements, and using Excel for data analysis, reconciliations, formulas, and pivot tables is strongly preferred.

Experience with hourly and salaried work forces, payroll allocations, audits, year-end processing, and complex business environments is a plus, while CPP certification is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, organized, and discreet, with strong communication and problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to improve processes while maintaining a high standard of accuracy, compliance, and service. Our client is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive workplace and providing reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities.
