Grant Writer job at Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma‑Marin. Santa Rosa, CA.

This is an onsite position. Please submit writing samples along with your resume for consideration.

General Purpose

The Grant Writer will be the organization’s primary writer and will be responsible for identifying grant opportunities, managing the overall life cycle of grants.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify program funding needs & priorities.
  • Research, identify, cultivate & solicit grant opportunities from government & non‑government agencies, including local, state & national opportunities.
  • Draft high-quality grant narratives, applications and supporting documents based on funding requirements & strategic approach.
  • Maintain a “Request for Support” bank of ready to send or edit proposals.
  • Manage the proposal submission process to ensure timely submission of all required materials.
  • Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals.
  • Coordinate and follow‑up on the progress of submitted proposals.
  • Maintain positive relationships with funders and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain a proposal calendar.
  • Complete all reporting requirements.
  • Work with department managers to compile financials and data.
  • Maintain records.
  • Develop annual grants strategy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Education and/or Expertise: Expertise and demonstrated ability to write successful grant proposals. Four‑year degree in related field from an accredited college or university preferred. A minimum of two years work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization.

Person will be of flawless integrity. Strong communication skills both verbal and written, especially persuasive writing skills. Excellent research skills for identifying funding opportunities. Excellent group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics. Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities. Detail‑oriented, organized, deadline driven. Motivated self‑starter with the ability to work independently with purpose and accuracy in a fast‑paced environment.

Computer & Equipment

Skills:

Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Donor Perfect preferred. Ability to quickly learn new computer programs.

Physical Requirements

Applicants must be able to successfully perform the essential physical functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 50 lbs. Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position. Requires ability to walk, sit, stand, bend, squat, pull/push, grasp up to 4‑8 hours per day. This is not a remote position.

Candidate must reside within our service areas of Sonoma & Marin counties.

Hours:

Full Time/40 Hours per week.
