Job Description
This Safety Coordinator is responsible for the safety of all employees and contractors working on electrical construction and power distribution projects. The Safety Coordinator is responsible for maintaining safety procedures, conducting safety inspections, and training employees on safety procedures, investigate accidents and incidents and take corrective action to prevent future occurrences.
Description Of Duties & Scope- Ensure the most relevant and effective internal and external safety practices are used and implemented
- Facilitate and review all Root Cause Analysis done in accordance with the Vince Sigal Incident Investigation Policy and verify corrective actions are being implemented and sustained in the field
- Review each Subcontractor’s and Clients Safety Program and ensure that it meets or exceeds the Project Safety Program requirements
- Review and conduct mini-gap analysis on current safety policies, procedures and standards and provide recommendations for change to help drive continuous improvement
- Interface with regulatory bodies (OSHA, EPA, State/Local Regulators)
- Review incident data and metrics to identify trends and recommend corrective action to address these areas
- Ensure that required regulatory permits are acquired, that reports are submitted to regulatory agencies, and any site permit conditions (e.g. sampling, record-keeping) are met
- Perform all duties in accordance with Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines
- Work with site supervision to execute company safety policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local, regional, and national regulations
- Enforces safety standards, conducts safety audits, participates in client safety meetings or conference calls; conveys information from specific clients about their specific safety requirements on a specific job site or client's work
- ASP/CSP strongly preferred, Minimum CHST Certification
- Instruct and train workers on safety policies and our safety standards
- Maintain and purchase company PPE equipment
- Maintain the HSE and IIP and other policies
- Maintain SPCC plans for project sites and coordinate inspections with vendors as necessary
- Develop and distribute site specific safety plans for projects
- Maintain safety files and records
- Maintain ISNetworld training and procedure documents
- Conduct investigations, recommend and enforce disciplinary actions against safety policy violators
- Ensure DOT drug/alcohol program compliance with regulations in the hiring of commercial drivers
- Conducts orientation activities such as completing and checking paperwork on new hires, validating required experience and licensure
- Ensure company policies and procedures are understood and implemented consistently in the field
- Other duties as assigned
- Experience working in the Utility and/or Construction field
- Must be self-motivated and flexible to accommodate changes in business strategies
- Possess training experience
- Strong organizational skills
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to think creatively in providing proactive and effective solutions
- Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork through the encouragement and building of mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members
- Able to work and communicate effectively with all levels of co-workers, clients, and other external contacts
- Able to effectively manage time and prioritize projects in order to meet established deadlines
- ASP/CSP strongly preferred, Minimum CHST Certification
- Five years of work experience and or related education specializing in Safety with one year of on-site construction environmental health and safety responsibilities
- Must be willing to travel as needed
- Intermediate skills in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work with minimal guidance;
Proactive, motivated self-starter
- Field Experience in commercial electrical construction
- Journeyman or Master Electrician's license
- Total compensation for the Safety Coordinator is between $70,000 and $110,000 depending on experience.
- After 3 months, health insurance package
