COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

* Salary Range:

Yearly Salary of $86,901 - $121,795 (25/26 Faculty Salary Schedule);
Placement within this range is determined by teaching experience, other related professional experience, and academic degrees. Contracted salary is for 177 days per year (August through May) as specified in the All Faculty Association Contract, Article 8. AFA Contract - Articles.

Santa Rosa Junior College is seeking an individual with demonstrated instructional skills to join an outstanding team of faculty and instructional administrators to provide high quality programs and services to our district, our community, and most importantly, our students. This is a full-time, regular contract position in the Counseling Department at Santa Rosa Junior College, beginning Fall Semester, August 2026. Appointments are contingent upon funding and Board approval.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The Counseling Department provides counseling and instruction to current and prospective students. Counselors provide academic, vocational and career related information that assists each individual in achieving their immediate and long range academic and occupational goals. Counseling is an integral, complementary part of the instructional process that facilitates educational equity and retention. The Counseling Department participates in the educational experience by creating a climate that supports learning as well as self-understanding in order to promote effective decision-making and encourages students to develop personal responsibility in order to achieve their goals and aspirations benefiting themselves, the college and the community.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Generalist assigned to the Santa Rosa Campus serves as a regular member of the Counseling Department faculty with a potential assignment to support general students and those participating in special programs such as:
Health Science programs, Athletics, International, Veterans, Probation/Dismissal, Transfer, Career, MESA, Credit and Non-Credit EMLS, Second Chance and Rising Scholars, etc. in the development and delivery of counseling services related to transfer, vocational/occupational programs, and academic skill development.

The Generalist will be assigned responsibilities including but not limited to developing and monitoring programs that address student educational goals and plans, follow up activities, and creating curriculum that strengthens the ability of our students to complete their academic goals in a reasonable time frame. Counselors teach counseling classes, conduct orientations, lead workshops and seminars; assist in developing and implementing necessary outreach and retention programs to meet needs identified by the college and its mission.

SRJC offers counseling services and courses at two campuses, located in Santa Rosa and Petaluma, as well as multiple satellite locations within the district, including on-line. While the primary assignment is the Santa Rosa Campus, please note the district reserves the right of assignment to any location, and that assignments could involve any combination of day or evening services.
