COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary Range: Yearly salary of $86,901 – $121,795 (25/26 Faculty Salary Schedule). Placement within the range is determined by teaching experience, related professional experience, and academic degrees. Contracted salary is for 177 days per year (August through May) as specified in the All Faculty Association Contract, Article 8.

Santa Rosa Junior College seeks an individual with demonstrated instructional skills to join an outstanding team of faculty and instructional administrators. This is a full‑time, regular contract position in the Counseling Department, beginning Fall Semester, August 2026. Appointments are contingent upon funding and board approval.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The Counseling Department provides counseling and instruction to current and prospective students. Counselors provide academic, vocational, and career information that assists each individual in achieving their immediate and long‑range academic and occupational goals. Counseling is an integral part of the instructional process, facilitating educational equity and retention. The department creates a climate that supports learning, self‑understanding, effective decision‑making, and personal responsibility, benefiting students, the college, and the community.

ESSENTIAL

FUNCTIONS

The generalist assigned to the Santa Rosa campus serves as a regular member of the Counseling Department faculty, supporting general students and those in special programs such as Health Science, Athletics, International, Veterans, Probation/Dismissal, Transfer, Career, MESA, Credit and Non‑Credit EMLS, Second Chance, and Rising Scholars. Responsibilities include developing and monitoring programs that address student educational goals, following up on activities, and creating curricula that strengthen students’ ability to complete their goals in a reasonable time frame.

Counselors teach counseling classes, conduct orientations, lead workshops and seminars, assist in developing and implementing outreach and retention programs, and participate in department and college service activities.

SRJC offers counseling services and courses at two campuses (Santa Rosa and Petaluma) and multiple satellite locations, including online. While the primary assignment is at the Santa Rosa campus, the district reserves the right to assign any location, which may involve day or evening services. Counselors maintain currency in the field, update existing courses, develop new curricula (including community courses), assess student learning outcomes, participate in committee work, and engage in community outreach on behalf of the college.

REQUIRED

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, or related field. Alternatives include a bachelor’s degree with an MFT license.
