2026/2027 - Associate Faculty

Job Type: Associate (Adjunct/Part‑Time)
Compensation & Benefits- Hourly rate: $60.76 – $154.09 per hour (based on academic background, vocational experience, and teaching experience)
- Assignments are part‑time, up to 67% of a full‑time equivalent
- Medical insurance for eligible employees
- Sick leave accrued on a prorated basis
- Retirement options:
CalSTRS Defined Benefit, CalSTRS Cash Balance, Social Security (eligibility based on prior membership)
- Provide excellent instruction and faculty support to students, which may include evening, weekend, online, hybrid and/or off‑campus assignments
- Provide academic assistance and related services to students during scheduled office hours
- Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff
- Maintain currency in field(s) of expertise
- Focus primarily on providing instruction and/or student services
- May be asked to participate in district or department service for additional compensation

- Required:
- Master’s degree in Chicano Studies; OR a Master’s in ethnic studies; OR the equivalent; OR fully satisfied (Life) California Community College Instructor's Credential in Ethnic Studies
- Sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
- Preferred:
- Record of creative, multidisciplinary scholarship that brings together ideas, questions, and methodologies in unique ways
- Record of creative, inspiring, and robust pedagogy in a community college or with a wide variety of audiences across different levels of academic abilities, interests and goals
- Involvement in projects and events that promote a culture of equity and democratic sensibilities, including collaboration or shared governance
- Evidence of ability to build and maintain partnerships with Chicanx and Latinx communities
- Ability to advise a diverse student population with a specific focus on Chicanx and Latinx students
- Ability to learn, modify, and develop curriculum to expand the Chicanx and Latinx Studies program
- Bilingual proficiency
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching courses in Chicanx or Latinx Studies
- Demonstrated cultural intelligence and experience within Chicanx and Latinx communities
- Demonstrated commitment to college, community‑engaged service, diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti‑racism
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with campus‑wide interdisciplinary related program
