Responsibilities

Keysight s semiconductor fab is expanding and looking for a Equipment Engineer within our Thin Film Fab Team. In this position, you will:

  • Own and serve as the technical expert for a suite of manufacturing equipment in our thin film fab area
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex equipment issues; lead repair escalations through root cause and permanent corrective actions
  • Coordinate vendor service visits for preventive and corrective maintenance events
  • Drive the capital equipment purchasing process, including requirements definition, vendor evaluation, and installation/acceptance support
  • Develop, execute, and continuously improve preventative maintenance and repair procedures (including documentation and training as needed)
  • Respond to urgent equipment downtime events in the manufacturing environment and restore tools to production safely
  • Lead hardware upgrades, tool improvements, and automation initiatives to improve capability, uptime, and safety
  • Partner with process engineers and operators to support volume production and enable R&D process development
  • Drive reliability improvements to reduce repeat downtime and improve tool availability
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related field
  • 5+ years of experience as an equipment engineer, manufacturing engineer or field service engineer out of semiconductor industry or similarly complex technical manufacturing environment
  • Direct experience working on semiconductor or thin film equipment in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting electro-mechanical systems (motors/drives, encoders, sensors, actuators, servos/motion control)
  • Project Management:
    Proven track record of successfully leading and overseeing complex technical projects to completion
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics/wiring diagrams to trace signals, isolate faults, and safely return equipment to service
  • Motivation to acquire new skills and address unique challenges

Ideal candidates may also have:

  • Master’s degree in engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience debugging controls systems: PLC I/O checkout, interlocks/safety circuits, servo faults, and HMI/alarm logic
  • RF/plasma system experience: RF generators, matching networks, chamber seasoning/cleaning, endpoint/arc troubleshooting
  • Tool install/move/qualification experience including FAT/SAT support, bring-up, and documented acceptance testing
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis methods
  • Background in chemical or high-hazard manufacturing
  • Excellent documentation and technical writing skills
  • Proficiency with CAD (such as Solidworks, Siemens NX)
