Sonoma Public Infrastructure (SPI) leads the way to a safe and sustainable community by planning, building, managing, and maintaining Sonoma County's investment in quality services and infrastructure. SPI operates and maintains various facilities across the County, many of which were constructed during the 1950s and 60s and require consistent upkeep and care. The locations include the Airport Complex, County Administration Center, Chanate and Los Guilicos Campuses, Main Adult Detention Facility, and four Veterans' Memorial Buildings.
Job SummaryUnder the general direction of the Integrated Waste Operations Division Manager, the Integrated Waste Utility and Infrastructure Coordinator will oversee the work of contractors and consultants performing capital improvement project work on County utilities, which include the County Service Areas (CSA) water systems, closed landfills, and lighting districts. Additionally, this position:
- Coordinates consultant and contractor projects involving construction, inspection, operation, maintenance, repair, and relocation of County infrastructure.
- Performs onsite operational inspections in outdoor environments (including closed landfills, construction zones, and rural utility sites) to test and evaluate complex electronic and electrical components of utility and infrastructure systems.
- Oversees consultants and contractors in removal of hazardous waste, and the mitigation and cleanup of natural disasters and other debris-generating events.
- Monitors contractor/consultant work progress to ensure work quality and enforce compliance with project plans and specifications.
- Prepares and manages project budgets; computes cost estimates for materials, equipment, and consultant/contractor work schedules; requisitions materials and supplies; and assists in projecting annual costs associated with future work.
