Resource Programs Technician II – Sonoma Water
Join the Sonoma County Water Agency (Sonoma Water) as a Resource Programs Technician II and contribute to improving our environment!
Working in the Environmental Resources Division, the Resource Programs Technician II conducts field and office work to study, assess, and report on natural resources, environmental conditions, and fish and wildlife populations throughout the Russian River watershed.
Responsibilities- Install and operate passive integrated transponder (PIT) detection systems.
- Coordinate and conduct electrofishing surveys, snorkel surveys, spawner surveys, and fish trapping, including leading entry‑level project staff.
- Install and maintain electronic data loggers.
- Collect and compile data using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and related software.
- Produce written reports of findings for senior staff review.
- Provide technical assistance to the public and other governmental agencies on fish and wildlife issues.
- Education and experience related to fish and wildlife biological or ecological projects.
- Understanding of methods used in natural resource studies.
- Time‑management and problem‑solving skills with flexibility to address changing priorities.
- Collaborative and team‑oriented work style.
- Curiosity and interest in understanding nature and the environment.
Regular shifts Monday through Thursday 7:00 am–5:30 pm, with most work outdoors. Weekend work is required on a rotating basis and occasional holiday work may be assigned.
