Pay: $18-$23/hr.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive intern to join the Continuous Improvement Team this summer. The ideal candidate will gain hands‑on experience while supporting plant‑wide continuous improvement initiatives by leading a 5S workplace organization project and contributing to a Pot Pie process improvement effort focused on reducing dough waste. The role will involve equipment inventory and organization, data collection and process analysis, and implementation of Lean improvements.

The intern will also complete Lean Practitioner Certification training and apply Lean principles directly to both projects.

  • Inventory equipment and recommend storage, labeling, and layout improvements.
  • Support the Pot Pie Improvement Project by collecting and analyzing production data.
  • Observe and map current processes to identify sources of dough waste.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to reduce waste per production run.
Qualifications and Skills

Education
  • Attending a four‑year college or university to attain a degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field; or already awarded bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Teams/SharePoint).
  • Interpersonal skills to work with cross‑functional plant teams.

  • Bilingual preferred:
    English and Spanish
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
  • Ability to make effective presentations on complex topics to plant management and other stakeholders.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
