The Department of Health Services is currently recruiting to fill one full‑time and two extra‑help Licensed Vocational Nurse positions at either the I or II levels. If you are interested in being considered at the different levels of this opportunity, you must apply to the separate concurrent recruitments being conducted for each level.

Please Note: A current California license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse is required for these positions and must be maintained as a condition of employment in this job classification.

About the Positions

The Department of Health Services' Youth and Family Services Foster Youth Team (FYT) is looking for a full‑time Licensed Vocational Nurse to provide nursing care to children and youth in their outpatient services. This liaison position will be embedded within the Human Services Department Youth and Children Child Protective Services Office to aid in the psychotropic medication monitoring for foster youth.

They will work closely with Public Health Nurses, Psychiatrists, Social Workers, and Legal Processors to track, monitor, and help fill out the Applications for Psychotropic Medication Forms (JV 220 and JV 216) for our foster youth. This role will be educating parents or foster parents, social workers, and health workers on the JV 220 process. They will also be required to effectively partner with clinics and hospitals, ensuring the proper care and medications are considered for foster youth.
