Position: Bilingual Public Health Nurse II - (English/Spanish)

Join the Trauma‑Informed Approach Public Health Nursing Program as a Bilingual Public Health Nurse II. The position offers a starting salary up to 75.48 USD per hour (roughly 157,535 USD per year) plus a bilingual premium of 1.50 USD per hour for fluent English/Spanish skill sets.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct home visits (or other agreed‑upon locations) with pregnant people, parents, and caregivers of children under six who have experienced trauma.
  • Provide education on pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and parenting.
  • Perform depression and anxiety screenings for adults and developmental screening for children.
  • Identify and connect families with medical, dental, and community resources to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Manage a caseload of up to 25 primary clients and their children, delivering individualized assessments, ongoing case management, and health education.
  • Coordinate referrals to other health and social service providers and collaborate with local agencies and community organizations.
  • Deliver culturally responsive health and parenting education.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed, and up‑to‑date records of all client interactions, assessments, action plans, and referrals.
  • Attend team meetings and regular trainings.
  • Conduct outreach with referral sources to identify new clients.
Qualifications
  • Current California State Public Health Nursing Certificate.
  • At least one year of public health nursing experience after receiving the California Public Health Nursing Certificate.
  • Fluent bilingual skills in English and Spanish (reading, writing, and conversational).
  • Knowledge and/or experience with maternal‑child nursing.
  • Experience working in community, clinic, or public health settings.
  • Understanding of trauma‑informed practices and experience working with individuals impacted by substance use, homelessness, mental health challenges, and intergenerational trauma.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Previous experience as a Nurse Home Visitor, Public Health Nurse, Labor and Delivery nurse, or similar.
  • Interest in fieldwork and ability to work with families of diverse customs and traditions.
  • Demonstrated respect and appreciation for clients’ strengths to build positive relationships.
  • Openness to continual learning.
  • Certification as an International Board‑Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) or experience as a doula, childbirth educator, or similar is desirable.
  • Valid driver’s license (required for field visits).
