Summary
Director of Staff Development (DSD) is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs for nursing staff to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and to promote high-quality resident care. This role provides leadership in staff training, competency development, and regulatory compliance, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

Pay Range: $114,920 - $120,640

Detailed Responsibilities- Plan, conduct, and coordinate educational programs to develop and improve necessary skills and knowledge for all Skilled Nursing personnel.
- Establish Staff Development goals and objectives.
- Confirm the validity of certificates for all CNAs, LVNs, RNs, etc. hired, monitor, and manage their recertification process to ensure no license lapse.
- Ensure that orientation and ongoing in-service programs are conducted according to Front Porch policy and procedure, in compliance with all state and federal regulations.
- Determine the educational needs of the facility through regular education needs assessments, review of surveys by the regulatory agencies, and collaboration with the Director of Nursing.
- Conduct an orientation program for all facility employees on all State and Federal long-term care regulations.
- Maintain current Department of Health Services-approved facility programs for orientation and in-service training of Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs).
- Develop an annual education and in-service calendar according to all regulatory standards and assessment of education needs.
- Maintain records of all education and in-service programs and analyze their impact on the attendees in both the short and long term.
- Assist the Medical Director with annual physical examinations and maintain up-to-date records of staff‑required immunizations.
- Conduct clinical rounds, identifying problems and establishing educational programs to meet the unit's needs.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
- Registered Nurse – California OR
- Licensed Vocational Nurse – California
- High School diploma or GED
- 2 Years Licensed RN or LVN providing direct care to aged or chronically ill, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing education programs.
- 5 Years experience in leadership roles, staff development, and regulatory compliance in a skilled nursing or long‑term care setting.
