American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring CA RN licensure, trauma-level surgical experience, and prior travel nursing experience.
Details- Work in the Operating Room department of an acute care hospital with 277 staffed beds
- Day shift schedule (3x12 hours) from 11:00 to 23:00, with variable start times of 7:00 or 9:00
- May be required to cover one night shift during the contract as needed
- Weekend shifts required
- On-call responsibilities required, with call distributed equally among nursing staff every 6 weeks (up to 6-8 shifts in a 6-week period, including nights, evenings, and weekends)
- Floating required between like units and potentially to sister facilities
- Uses Epic charting system
- OR, Endo, L&D, and PACU scrubs provided
- Free parking available
- Active CA RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum of 3 years of OR nursing experience required (5 years preferred)
- Trauma Level I experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Experience with trauma, neuro, vascular, and orthopedic surgical procedures required due to facility trauma status
- Epic charting system experience required
- Experience with surgical specialties including general surgery, orthopedics, urology, ENT, gynecology, and plastics
- Familiarity with surgical equipment such as cell saver, electrosurgical units, and fiber optic light sources
- Knowledge of emergency management protocols including code response, fire safety, and malignant hyperthermia
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Provide perioperative nursing care across a wide range of surgical specialties including trauma, vascular, neuro, orthopedic, general surgery, urology, ENT, gynecology, and plastics
- Participate in emergency response protocols including fire safety, latex allergy precautions, and malignant hyperthermia management
- Perform specimen handling, blood product administration, and universal protocol (time-out) procedures
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- RTO must be submitted upfront at time of application, as post-submission requests may not be accommodated
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility may be considered at a lower bill rate
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel nurse
- May be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
