American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring CA RN licensure, trauma-level surgical experience, and prior travel nursing experience.

• Work in the Operating Room department of an acute care hospital with 277 staffed beds
• Day shift schedule (3x12 hours) from 11:00 to 23:00, with variable start times of 7:00 or 9:00
• May be required to cover one night shift during the contract as needed
• Weekend shifts required
• On-call responsibilities required, with call distributed equally among nursing staff every 6 weeks (up to 6-8 shifts in a 6-week period, including nights, evenings, and weekends)
• Floating required between like units and potentially to sister facilities
• Uses Epic charting system
• OR, Endo, L&D, and PACU scrubs provided
• Free parking available

• Active CA RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum of 3 years of OR nursing experience required (5 years preferred)
• Trauma Level I experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Experience with trauma, neuro, vascular, and orthopedic surgical procedures required due to facility trauma status
• Epic charting system experience required
• Experience with surgical specialties including general surgery, orthopedics, urology, ENT, gynecology, and plastics
• Familiarity with surgical equipment such as cell saver, electrosurgical units, and fiber optic light sources
• Knowledge of emergency management protocols including code response, fire safety, and malignant hyperthermia
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting

• Provide perioperative nursing care across a wide range of surgical specialties including trauma, vascular, neuro, orthopedic, general surgery, urology, ENT, gynecology, and plastics
• Participate in emergency response protocols including fire safety, latex allergy precautions, and malignant hyperthermia management
• Perform specimen handling, blood product administration, and universal protocol (time-out) procedures
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• RTO must be submitted upfront at time of application, as post-submission requests may not be accommodated
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility may be considered at a lower bill rate
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel nurse
• May be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
