Job DescriptionClassroom Teacher (Grades K‑8)
Responsibilities- Compile and analyze data for documentation, lesson planning, and program planning.
- Comply with state and federal guidelines regarding implementation of IEPs and 504 plans.
- Maintain accurate grade and assessment records for assigned students.
- Keep current with educational trends through professional literature and conferences.
- Maintain personal standards of dress and grooming per Board policy.
- Demonstrate promptness and accuracy in all assignments.
- Meet obligations set by the Education Code and Board policy.
- Participate in staff meetings, School Site Council, PTA projects, and other school‑community activities.
- Perform basic attendance accounting and business tasks as required.
- Share responsibility for effective operation of the school program.
- Support and participate in Title I, GATE English Learners, and other categorical programs.
- Assess and document students’ academic and social growth; keep records, analyze data, prepare progress reports, and intervention plans.
- Collaborate with school staff and parents to provide instructional services to students with disabilities per 504 plans.
- Collaborate with Special Education personnel to provide services per Individual Education Plans.
- Communicate regularly with parents; hold conferences to discuss student progress and interpret program.
- Cooperate with professional staff; assess and help students and parents resolve health, attitudinal, behavior, and learning problems.
- Develop and implement classroom management plan with positive behavior supports.
- Instruct students in citizenship and character education.
- Prepare and use lesson plans, instructional materials, and strategies aligned with content standards and student readiness.
- Provide daily instruction using textbooks, assessments, technology, and other appropriate materials.
- Use technology to interact with students, parents, and staff.
- Administer federal, state, and district assessments per guidelines.
- Collaborate with district offices to distribute and collect paperwork and ensure compliance.
- Plan and coordinate paraprofessional work; assist in selection of paraprofessionals.
- Research and select instructional materials and maintain inventory records.
- Supervise students during out‑of‑classroom activities during the work day.
- Supervise student teachers, paraprofessionals, and parent volunteers when applicable.
Bachelor’s degree with all courses meeting credential requirements; credential(s) to meet assignment requirement (state/local boards).
ExperienceTeaching experience desired; completion of a student‑teaching program accepted with above‑average recommendations from supervisors or other professionals who have observed the teacher’s personal characteristics, scholastic attainment, and classroom performance.
Knowledge and AbilitiesKnowledge of oral and written English communication skills; interpersonal skills using tact, patience, courtesy; knowledge of student health concerns and emergency procedures such as Epi Pen administration and allergy response.
