Job Summary
The Automation Technician III will inspect, test, adjust, and repair new or existing electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic automation devices and systems. The role includes diagnosing electrical or mechanical malfunctions, performing preventative and corrective maintenance, and coaching and mentoring other automation technicians.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Understand the design and intent of mechanical equipment and systems (Chiller, Boiler, Custom AHU’s, Primary/Secondary pumping, Variable flow Chilled water plants, Clean Room Applications, Demand Response, and Energy solutions).
- Analyze systems and develop scope of work for controls implementation.
- Monitor, identify, and diagnose potential problems using computer workstations and on‑site observations.
- Interface with the installation or maintenance team to execute installations, repairs, or modifications of controlled systems and equipment.
- Give technical presentations on building automation, controls, and emerging technology.
- Locate defective or non‑operational components in new and existing systems, using test equipment and programming knowledge.
- Minimum eight (8) years of direct automation experience with control systems and programming.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
- Working knowledge of at least three HVAC controls systems (preferably Delta, JCI, or Andover).
- Ability to interface with customers at a supervisory and management level.
- Engineering skills including knowledge of electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with control system architecture design, programming, or maintenance desired.
- Good computer skills, understanding of controls networking.
- Valid driver’s license.
Compensation Range: $46 - $56 per hour
