Position Summary
Develop and implement a flexible, engaging high school art classroom that fosters creativity, skill development, and a positive learning environment. Create a classroom culture that supports both academic growth and personal expression, while building strong, respectful relationships with students. Motivate learners to develop artistic skills, critical thinking, and an appreciation for the arts, adapting instruction to meet diverse student needs and abilities.
Collaborate effectively with parents, colleagues, and the broader school community to support student success.
Education: Bachelor's Degree Required
Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc: Oklahoma Teaching Certification in Art Education or applicable teaching fields.
Other: Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others, demonstrate self-discipline and initiative, and follow state and district guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities- Deliver standards-based art instruction aligned with the Oklahoma State Department of Education and district curriculum.
- Plan and implement engaging lessons and instructional materials that differentiate to meet diverse student needs.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies, including whole-group, small-group, and individualized instruction, to maximize learning.
- Create and maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom environment that supports student engagement and positive behavior.
- Establish clear expectations for student behavior and build strong, respectful relationships with students.
- Assess student learning through formative and summative measures; monitor academic and social growth and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress in accordance with district and state requirements.
- Identify student needs and work with appropriate staff to support academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
- Communicate effectively and consistently with parents, students, and staff regarding student progress and the instructional program.
- Collaborate with colleagues on instructional planning, data analysis, and school-based initiatives to improve student outcomes.
- Supervise students in classrooms and other assigned settings, ensuring safety and appropriate behavior at all times.
- Support school programs through participation in assigned duties, including co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain and improve instructional practices.
- Adhere to district policies, procedures, and expectations, including attendance at required meetings and compliance with contract hours.
- Support district initiatives and implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment priorities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or superintendent.
