Responsibilities

The Relationship Banker will serve as the single point of contact for customers, matching their needs with First United Bank products and services, and mentoring employees to achieve the same.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Maintain basic knowledge of all First United Bank products, services, procedures, policies and regulations.
  • Follow proper procedures accurately for all customer‑servicing activities.
  • Retain existing customers and develop new customer relationships.
  • Act as customers' single point of contact on all products and services.
  • Consistently meet or exceed performance goals and actively participate in sales campaigns.
  • Participate in all meetings, bank functions, and community events as requested.
  • Provide excellent customer service by greeting, smiling, using customers' names, and building rapport.
  • Identify and match customers' product needs through interviews, including referrals to other staff.
  • Open new accounts and ancillary products, ensuring proper paperwork is completed.
  • Assist customers with routine inquiries: balance, statements, checks, transfers, ACH, and notary services.
  • Process a variety of transactions efficiently with minimal errors.
  • Maintain drawer limits, perform cash verifications, and handle vault duties.
  • Verify all transactions, place holds, and close out shifts to ensure compliance.
  • Proactively resolve customer complaints, problems, or other issues.
  • Review and resolve account issues in daily reports, assisting with charge‑off repayment plans.
  • Perform security functions, including opening and closing bank and vault.
  • Master the primary purpose and essential duties of the Relationship Banker I position.
Employee Specifications
  • High School Diploma strongly preferred; some college strongly preferred.
  • One year of retail experience preferred.
  • Cash handling experience preferred.
  • Superior customer service skills required.
  • Basic mathematics to solve problems.
  • Requires being exact or highly accurate with daily work.
  • Ability to effectively read, write, and verbally communicate with customers and co‑workers.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work independently without close supervision.
  • Ability to use good judgment and exercise decision‑making skills.
  • Critical thinking, logic, and reasoning to identify solutions.
  • Ability to multi‑task.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance.
  • Behave ethically while at work or outside the work environment.
  • Active listening – actively looking for ways to assist customers, giving full attention, and asking questions as appropriate.
