Assembly Supervisor

Gastech is seeking an experienced and hands-on Assembly Supervisor to lead the day-to-day assembly of gas processing skids and related equipment. The Assembly Supervisor is responsible for coordinating personnel, materials, tools, and work activities to ensure skids are assembled safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, quality standards, and production schedules.

This position requires a strong understanding of industrial equipment assembly, piping and mechanical fabrication, and the ability to lead a skilled workforce in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be highly organized, safety-focused, quality-minded, and comfortable working directly with assemblers, welders, fabricators, engineers, quality personnel, and project management.

Production & Assembly Leadership
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of assembly personnel working on gas processing skids and related equipment.
  • Assign work based on production priorities, employee skill levels, project requirements, and schedule commitments.
  • Review assembly drawings, P&IDs, bills of materials, work orders, and other production documentation to ensure work is performed correctly.
  • Coordinate the mechanical and piping assembly of skids, including installation of piping, valves, fittings, instruments, equipment, structural components, and associated systems.
  • Monitor production progress and proactively address issues that could affect schedule, quality, or cost.
  • Ensure assemblies are completed according to approved drawings, specifications, tolerances, and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with Engineering when drawings, dimensions, materials, or assembly methods require clarification or revision.
  • Work with Purchasing, Materials, Quality, Welding, Engineering, and Project Management to resolve production issues and maintain workflow.
  • Identify opportunities to improve assembly processes, reduce rework, and increase productivity.
Safety & Compliance
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture throughout the assembly department.
  • Ensure employees follow company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and applicable industry standards.
  • Conduct and/or participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, job hazard assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE, tools, lifting equipment, and other shop equipment.
  • Stop work when unsafe conditions or practices are identified and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Quality Control
  • Ensure assemblies meet Gastech quality standards and applicable customer and project specifications.
  • Work closely with Quality Control/Quality Assurance personnel during inspections, testing, and final acceptance activities.
  • Verify that correct materials, components, and hardware are used during assembly.
  • Identify defects, dimensional issues, installation problems, and nonconforming work and ensure timely correction.
  • Minimize rework through effective planning, communication, and in-process inspection.
  • Ensure required documentation, inspection records, checklists, and production paperwork are completed accurately.
Team Leadership
  • Provide direction, training, coaching, and performance feedback to assembly employees.
  • Establish clear expectations for workmanship, productivity, attendance, housekeeping, and safety.
  • Assist management with employee evaluations, hiring, onboarding, disciplinary actions, and workforce planning.
  • Develop employees' technical skills and identify opportunities for cross-training.
  • Maintain a professional, productive, and respectful work environment.
  • Lead by example through hands-on involvement in solving technical and production problems.
Materials, Tools & Shop Organization
  • Coordinate with Materials/Inventory personnel to ensure required components and materials are available when needed.
  • Identify shortages, damaged materials, incorrect components, and material discrepancies.
  • Ensure tools, fixtures, lifting equipment, and assembly equipment are properly maintained and available.
  • Maintain an organized and efficient assembly area using 5S or similar lean manufacturing practices.
  • Control work-in-progress and ensure completed assemblies are properly staged for inspection, testing, and shipment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or relevant vocational training preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial assembly, skid fabrication, process equipment, piping, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or lead experience preferred.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, isometric drawings, bills of materials, and assembly documentation.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and piping assembly practices.
  • Experience working around process equipment, pressure piping, valves, instrumentation, and industrial machinery preferred.
  • Ability to use common hand and power tools and understand proper assembly techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
