Color Specialist / Color Chemist
The Color Specialist / Color Chemist is responsible for developing, formulating, and testing cosmetic and skincare products, with a specific focus on color cosmetics. This role requires expertise in color formulation, project management skills, and coordination with manufacturing operations. The Color Specialist / Color Chemist must ensure compliance with GMP, GLP, and GDP. The ideal candidate should have 3-5 years of experience in cosmetic and pharmaceutical manufacturing, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and excellent communication skills.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
- Develop and reformulate color cosmetics, including lipsticks, eyeshadows, and blushes, to meet quality, stability, and regulatory requirements.
- Utilize project management techniques to drive concurrent project developments and meet timelines.
- Conduct research on new color concepts, materials, and trends.
- Perform sample preparation for product stability testing and accurately track and report results.
- Conduct efficacy, safety, and other necessary tests on color cosmetic samples.
- Understand the function, use, and processing requirements of raw materials used in color cosmetics.
- Apply project management techniques to ensure timely completion of color cosmetics projects.
- Document all phases of the color cosmetics product development process.
- Design experiments and protocols for scalable and robust color cosmetic formulations and processes.
- Prepare detailed specifications for color cosmetic formulations.
- Collaborate with regulatory, supply chain, procurement, marketing, and external suppliers to support color cosmetic product development.
- Work independently with limited supervision and demonstrate good judgment.
- Optimize existing color cosmetic techniques, methods, and processes.
- Support scale-up processing of color cosmetics and evaluate results to identify issues and provide recommendations.
- Adhere to safety, quality, and company policies and procedures in color cosmetics development.
- Other duties as requested by business need.
Qualifications Required For Position:
- Bachelor's degree in cosmetic science, pharmaceutical science, biology, chemistry, or related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing, cosmetic, or pharmaceutical industries preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Consistent and regular attendance is expected.
Qualifications Desired For Position:
- Experience in formula and ingredient review of existing Sene Gence color cosmetic products.
- Training in COPTIS Lab Software to become familiar with raw materials and regulations.
- Ability to maintain organized project files and records.

Physical Demands:
Physical requirements include arm and hand dexterity enough to use a keyboard and telephone; occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds; occasional pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds; may be subject to walking, standing, sitting, reaching, bending, kneeling, handling, and climbing; and vision, speech, and hearing sufficient to perform the essential tasks.
Working Conditions:
Working environment is primarily indoors in a laboratory setting and may be exposed to hazardous materials.
