Code Header Welder
Join a busy job shop that primarily supports the energy industry and works on a wide range of custom products based on customer drawings and specifications. This role focuses on code-compliant header welding and requires a minimum of 3 years of header welding experience. The position is intended for skilled welders who can contribute immediately, as training for this role is not provided.
Responsibilities:
- Perform code-compliant header welding on a variety of projects in a job shop environment that supports the energy industry.
- Fabricate and weld headers according to customer drawings, project specifications, and applicable welding codes and standards.
- Execute MIG welding and other applicable welding processes to meet quality, safety, and production requirements.
- Prepare and complete a single bevel open root 2G welding test, with welds subject to bend testing to determine x-ray compliance.
- Read and interpret blueprints and welding specifications to plan and execute accurate welds and fabrications.
- Ensure all welds meet required quality standards, including those necessary to pass x-ray inspection.
- Work effectively within scheduled hours (5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday) to meet production deadlines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all shop safety procedures and guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and resolve fabrication or welding issues as they arise.
Essential
Skills:
- Minimum of 3 years of header welding experience in a production or job shop environment.
- Strong proficiency in MIG welding techniques.
- Skilled in various welding techniques, including MIG and Flux processes.
- Knowledge of applicable welding codes and standards relevant to code header welding.
- Ability to fabricate and weld code-compliant headers according to project specifications.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and welding specifications.
- Capability to perform a single bevel open root 2G test and produce welds suitable for bend and x-ray testing.
Additional Skills &
Qualifications:
- Experience working in a job shop environment supporting the energy industry or similar sectors.
- TIG welding experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with quality inspection methods, including bend tests and x-ray standards.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and contribute as a reliable team member.

Work Environment:
The role is based in a job shop environment that is not climate controlled, so temperatures may vary with the seasons. The shop operates Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., offering a consistent daytime schedule. Employees have access to a great break room for rest periods. The work involves using MIG welding and related equipment in an industrial setting, with a focus on safety, productivity, and quality standards.

Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
