Electrical Maintenance Technician
Ensures the continuous, safe operation of heavy-duty industrial machinery, automated assembly lines, and metal fabrication equipment. They specialize in troubleshooting and repairing the high-voltage systems, PLC-driven automation, and heavy lifting infrastructure required to build massive industrial and commercial cooling units.
Core Responsibilities:
- Equipment Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and repair electrical faults on heavy manufacturing machinery including CNC plasma cutters, press brakes, sheet metal benders, robotic welding cells, and industrial air compressors. - Automation & Controls:
Maintain and program Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and sensors that manage automated factory assembly and testing lines. - High-Voltage Systems:
Service and repair 480V 3-phase power distribution systems, motor control centers (MCCs), transformers, and heavy-duty fan/motor assembly testing stations. - Material Handling Support:
Perform electrical maintenance on critical plant infrastructure such as overhead gantry cranes, hoists, and motorized conveyors used to move heavy cooling unit components. - Preventive Maintenance (PM):
Execute scheduled electrical PMs on production machinery to minimize unplanned downtime and optimize manufacturing efficiency. - Blueprint Reading:
Interpret complex electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to pinpoint faults or wire new factory installations. - Safety & Compliance:
Strictly adhere to OSHA regulations, including comprehensive Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols when servicing high-power machinery.
Key
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience:
3+ years of electrical maintenance experience specifically within heavy manufacturing, industrial assembly, or metal fabrication environments. - Technical
Skills:
Mastery of multimeters, circuit testers, and megohmmeters; strong capability with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar industrial PLC platforms. - Systems Knowledge:
Strong working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic interfaces common in heavy equipment. - Physical Demands:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work on ladders or aerial lifts, and stand for extended periods on concrete factory floor.
