Position: Case Manager/Outreach Advocate - Creek County

Case Manager

The philosophy of our organization is that all people have the right to live without fear, abuse, oppression, and violence. Our advocacy programs embrace the philosophy that people experiencing violence and/or abuse have the potential to control their lives and can be helped in doing so through support, information, and encouragement. We believe that our organization should model behavior that is nonviolent and uses power responsibly for personal and organizational action and growth.

The case manager serves as a staff member at will of Domestic Violence Intervention Services (DVIS). The case manager/outreach advocate assists clients in obtaining needed services, education, and financial assistance in the community. Outreach to inform the community about services in Creek County will include libraries, health care providers, other non-profits, Dept. of Human Services, etc.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Priority 1:
Equity and Inclusion

  • Reflect and understand how identities could give advantages in the workplace—even if they are not asked for or earned—while others might experience disadvantages. Reflect on how our position and power may shift depending on the environment, the people, or the institutions ld the awareness and compassion that is needed and expected to create an equitable and inclusive workplace.
  • Create an inclusive environment and behave in a way that ensures that clients and employees feel embraced, no matter what their cultural orientations are, respected and valued, engaged and connected to the community, and safe from abuse and harassment.

Priority 2:
Advocacy

  • Provide crisis intervention services for phone-in and walk-in clients.
  • Perform intakes and needs assessments and make referrals to other community resources.
  • Provide supportive services to survivors, including safety planning, introducing DVIS services, and connecting clients in eminent danger to the Shelter.
  • Create service plans for clients.
  • Act as an advocate for clients with external agencies. Includes accompanying clients to court and/or to appointments with law enforcement or prosecutors.

Priority 3:
Case Management

  • Safety planning with all survivors.
  • Responsible for case management services for immediate survivor needs that include referrals for education, education assistance, job training, and other public assistance.
  • Assist survivors in locating and securing housing.
  • Provide/arrange for education to include interpersonal violence, financial literacy that includes checkbook management, budgeting and money management, and other skills for daily living.
  • Advocate for survivors within the civil and criminal justice system as well as the health care system.
  • Provide referrals to DVIS programs including legal assistance, protective order assistance and advocacy, counseling services, childcare, group counseling and support groups, and children's counseling.
  • Responsible for conducting follow-up.

Priority 4:
Community Resources, Response, Coordination and Outreach

  • Identify community resources to meet each individual's needs by providing referrals to partner organizations.
  • Assist with coordinating a community response to interpersonal violence.
  • Conduct community outreach and build strong community relationships. Distribute information and make presentations about DVIS services to a wide variety of entities in the community.
  • Maintain a comprehensive directory of local services to include housing, financial assistance, educational assistance, job training, job placement services and child care resources.

Priority 5:
Statistical and Grant Reporting

  • Responsible for keeping statistics and providing reports as requested.
