Application Specialist
Sarasota County Government is seeking an application specialist to assist with the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP), a federally funded program providing rent and utility assistance to renters impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a unique opportunity for an inquisitive, self-motivated, and detail oriented individual to make a positive impact on the citizens of Sarasota County by processing applications submitted to this program.
Review, evaluate, and process applications submitted for rental and utility payments using an online platform while adhering the program's high standards and expectations.
Determine eligibility, months of assistance, and funding amount for individuals seeking assistance through ERAP.
Understand ERAP requirements under the program guidelines and adhere to confidentiality standards.
Engage in positive communication via email, phone, and online platform with landlords and tenants to request additional information needed to process applications.
Follow-up on email inquiries and track outreach to landlords and tenants for documentation and information related to assigned applicants.
Complete detailed work involving written and numeric data.
Collaborate with program team members to ensure timely processing of applications.
Assist the Program Manager and Specialist Supervisor with trainings and ongoing support of the Application Specialists.
Maintain a strong knowledge of the federal requirements for the Emergency Rental Assistance Program and the County's eligibility criteria.
Other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
2 - 5 years of relevant experience
NOTE:
One-year of college may substitute for one-year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in accounting or finance
Bachelor's degree preferred
Prior experience working in federally funded programs

Pay: $18.00/hour - $22.00/hour
This is a time-limited position that may last 1-2 years, depending on how quickly the ERAP funding is distributed to the community and if additional funding is received. Time-limited positions include benefits and retirement and can work up to 40 hours/week.
