Job Title
Performing major administrative functions for the courts and the Citizen Dispute Resolution Program.
Job DescriptionSchedules and coordinates pre-filing mediation for the Citizen Dispute Resolution Program (CDSP), including Family Pre-filing, and oversees volunteer mediators;
Analyzes documents such as contracts to ensure comprehension of issues in dispute, communicates with each party regarding the dispute to obtain voluntary participation in CDSP.
Facilitates small claims county court proceedings and arranges for volunteers to mediate the cases to resolution.
Schedules and coordinates county court office mediations.
Mediates county cases, prepares/drafts settlement agreements, court orders or impasse reports on all cases mediated.
Prepares orders for county court judges.
Provides back up family case management assistance; prepares cases for temporary injunction hearings; facilitates domestic violence cases as required by the Family Case Manager. Assists with other administration duties as needed in the South County Courthouse (including but not limited to Court Administration back up and microphone check backup).
Other administrative functions:
Monitor both public and court ordered referrals, compile and report data, statistics and other special reports documenting activities, participate in organizing trainings, present training sessions, attend continuing education trainings, assist with program outreach, attend outreach functions and speak publicly about the program, develop alternative procedures as the need arises, provide coverage for the county court judges during small claims pre-trials Assists North County Program Director as needed, and any other duties as assigned.
This employee must become a Florida Supreme Court certified county mediator and Florida Supreme Court certified assistant trainer within one-year of hire.
Work Hours:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Minimum Qualifications:
An Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university and 4-6 years of secretarial or administrative experience with some executive exposure. Year-for-year experience may substitute for the college degree. Some supervisory experience may be required. Advanced Professional Certification highly desirable.

Working knowledge of the judicial system and court procedures, standard business/office experience.
Certification as a mediator.
Knowledge of the judicial system and use of basic office equipment.
