Student Intern

The Student Intern works closely with the Associate Director and staff which manages the full range of campus event activity – weddings, religious ceremonies, and community, academic, and institutional events held at New College of Florida. Over the 12 weeks, the intern moves through the full event-planning lifecycle: intake and booking, logistics and vendor coordination, budgeting, on-site execution, and post-event wrap-up – gaining broad exposure to how a college events office serves many different event types and client needs at once.

Examples

of Duties

- Shadow and assist with event intake, site walkthroughs, and client/vendor communication across event types (weddings, religious events, campus/community events) - Support logistics planning: floor plans, room setup diagrams, AV/tech needs, and vendor coordination
- Help build event timelines and run-of-show documents
- Assist with on-site setup, day-of coordination, and breakdown for at least one live event
- Research and maintain vendor contact information and event space marketing materials
- Support budgeting, invoicing, and contract-review tasks under supervision
- Plan and help execute one intern-led event or event component by the end of the term

Minimum Qualifications

- Two years of postsecondary education (AA or at least third/junior year standing) and are currently in good academic standing.

- At least one relevant New College course (1 unit/4 credit hours) related to industries/disciplines of pathways program.

- Current undergraduate student pursuing or exploring a related field of study
- Interest in gaining hands-on experience in education, health, or a related professional setting
- Strong communication, professionalism, and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to learn, observe, and engage in reflective practice
- Ability to follow site-specific policies, safety procedures, and supervision guidelines
